How To Sew Cornered Seams

All cornered seams need reinforcement at the right angle to strengthen them.  This can be achieved by using small stitches between 1 and 1.5 mm and for about 2 cm on either side of the corner.

To join an inward corner seam with an outward corner or straight edge, stitch just inside the seamline for about 2 cm on either side of the corner.

Insert a pin diagonally across the point where the stitching forms the angle.
Clip up to the point, being careful not to cut past the stitches.

Spread the clipped section to fit the other edge and pin it in place. With the clipped side up, stitch on the seamline and pivot at the corner.
