I made these swimsuits as samples to demonstrate to my students the various techniques that are involved in making swimsuits. The patterns are all self-drafted.
In order to have a great-looking swimsuit, you have to do the following:
Use quality Spandex/Lycra with a four-way stretch.
Always use quality swimwear lining or power mesh.
Using a stretch machine needle is extremely important.
Always use a stretch stitch or a small zigzag stitch while sewing the fabric pieces together.
Lastly, the elastic must be applied in the correct way.
