1. Visit The White Temple (Wat Rong Khun)
This temple was renovated by an artist named Chalermchai Kositpipat. You will also find an art gallery in the temple complex, which host paintings from various artists, including art by Chalermchai Kositpipat. There are other buildings to explore on the site. This site is very popular and is always crowded, so its best to try and get there early to get the best photos.
2. Visit The Clock Tower
This tower can easily be seen while walking around the city centre. At night the clock tower has a light and sound show that will certainly blow your mind.
3. Explore The Blue Temple (Wat Rong Seua Ten)
No visit to Chiang Rai is complete without seeing this vibrantly coloured temple. The temple is painted blue inside and out.
4. Visit Wat Huay Pla Kung
This is another spectacular temple inside and out. Visit there at night to see the beautiful illuminations. Great for spectacular photography.

You can actually go to the top of this statue to gaze over the surrounding area where Wat Huay Pla Kung is situated.

You can rent a bike to cycle around the old ruins of temples in Chiang Saen.

Chiang Rai has a walking street market every Saturday which opens at 4pm and closes at midnight. The night market in the old city is open daily. Here you will find arts and crafts as well as souvenirs.
7. Visit The Black House
The Black House consist of a group of painted wooden houses and feature art by Thai artists. Even though it is not as impressive as the white temple, the black house is still worth a visit. There are about 40 temple-like buildings on the site.
8. Visit The Monkey Temple (Wat Tham Pla)
This impressive site has monkeys just about everywhere. The site is a short ride from Chiang Rai and motorcycles can be rented from several shops in Ciang Rai.
9. Go Temple Hopping In The Old Town
There are several impressive temples in the old town centre. Here you can spend a few hours walking through the town to take in some of the interesting architecture.
10. Visit The Golden Triangle
The Golden Triangle is where Thailand,Laos and Myanmar meet. Its a fantastic viewpoint not to be missed.
